Summer Training Schedule

We have the official NW Cook training Schedule for June. I wanted to send an electronic copy to everyone so you can send it out to your elected Exec. Committee and your Appointed Committee Chairman. Remember that anyone can attend any of these workshops – even if they are not in a specific position.

Reminder that all elected board members are required to attend Road to Success within 6 months of their election and Committee chairman are encouraged to take it as well. Presidents are required to take the President Course and Money Matters 101, Treasurers required to take Money Matters 101 and encouraged to take 201. We hosted the Council course at a President’s meeting so many of you have already done that one:)

I am excited to be teaching the membership class again and encourage your membership chairs to join me. We share a lot of great ideas, resources, and strategies.

Joan Scovic will be presenting the Reflections workshop that is a great resource to reflections chairmen.

Please let me know if you have any questions about these training. NW Cook is proud to be able to offer these courses to help provide the tools of understanding about the PTA and resources for our local units.

November 7: PTA 101: Road to Success Workshop

I have been working to bring a PTA 101: Your Road to Success workshop to our District and Council. I have secured a trainer and location for the event: Saturday, November 7th from 9am-11:30 at the Palatine Public Library- ROOM #2

I am attaching a flier that I would like you to pass along to your entire board. All board members are required to take this course within the first 6 months of their election/appointment or as soon as possible. If a volunteer took the course longer than 4 years ago they should probably go for a re-fresher class as things have changed. The course includes a primer on organizational structure, bylaws, officer duties, and a touch of parliamentary procedure.

Please have your board members check their calendars and RSVP to me by November 2nd. This flier is two sided with the back side sharing bullet points on course content.

Let me know If you have any questions. Thanks for your help in promoting PTA training and for spreading the word about this training opportunity.

Fall Training Schedule

I wanted to let everyone know that the NW Cook Region Trainings start tonight: Money Matters 101, PTA Road to Success and Grassroots advocacy. You are receiving this email because you are a Lake Louise PTA board member (in most cases – a chair of a committee).

If you have not taken the PTA Road to Success – at the very least – in the last three years I highly recommend attending training. There is nothing like face to face training and workshops. The amount of information and experiences shared are SO beneficial and add to the information you take away. You also can meet other volunteers and network with others from around the NW suburbs and our council.

Walk ins are welcome though they cannot guarantee enough handouts at training (though they can e-mail them to you later).

PTA Officers and Committee Chairmen- Check out these specific trainings and workshops!

    • Health & Safety Chairmen or Room Rep Chairmen The Healthier Foods In our Schools Workshop

August 4: PTA Region Packet Orientation

The NW Cook Region Local Unit Packet Orientation, Meeting and Workshops event will take place on August 4th beginning at 6:30 pm at Eisenhower Junior High School, 800 W. Hassell Road Hoffman Estates, IL 60169.

Each local unit is required to send at least one representative to attend this Orientation in order to recieve your local unit packet, important information, and to count out and take your local unit’s Membership Cards. If you as president are not available to attend, please plan to send another representative from your local unit. Please forward this information and invitation to your entire board and encourage them to join us- elected officers, committee chairman and volunteers – the more the merrier. (This is a great time to invite potential future officers or committee members to attend and learn more about the PTA and what each position entails. This can be a great way to grow your leadership, network with others and get new ideas and inspiration from others!).

RSVP by August 1st to Mikel Eppenbaugh at mikel@ilpta-d37.org.

We ask that you compile a list of who will be attending from your local unit and return the RSVP list to our Region Director: Mikel Eppenbaugh. This list will help us prepare so we have enough resources and workshop handouts that night. We can take in walk-ins that evening, but we cannot guarantee that there will be adequate materials on hand. (We could send them information later electronically if needed).
